A Shed Full Of Birthday Madness

The clocks have gone forward and the days are getting longer. The weather is warming up and the sun is shining. Time to think about bikes! Fresh air and excersise and the wind in your hair. It’s what childhood in summer time is supposed to be all about.
In fact it is Witchling 10’s birthday in about a week and on the fabled list this year is a new bike, roller blades and a new scooter! Oh, and did I mention the trampoline? Now this is all well and good and I am all for the kids getting as much fresh air and excersise as possible this summer. Now that we are back in the UK it has been a bit of a shock to the system for them to experience a British winter again. Cold dark evenings when it’s dark at 4pm and too cold to go out on your bike at the weekend are horrible after the balmy all year round heat of Sydney.
So it’s off to the shops this weekend to purchase afore-mentioned outdoor funtime objects for Witchling 10. But where on earth are we going to keep them!? The garden, when we moved back in to the house, was in dire need of some work and we pulled the old rickety wooden shed down. So now, while I go shopping for roller blades and a trampoline, my better fraction will be off shopping for concrete sheds.
We’re going for a permanent concrete structure as it won’t fall down in quite the same way as our previous wooden effort was threatening to do, and it will provide a better level of security for all the wonderful birthday toys that we are investing in. Because it is concrete we’ll be able to store garden furniture in it too, as it will be weather proof and won’t get as damp as a wooden shed. There is nothing as depressing as opening the shed up on the first warm day of the year and finding that the sun lounger you purchased last summer and the matching kids deck chairs are all mouldy or rotten and smelly.
Roll on summer!
