Sorry about the pun but with the Easter school holidays right around the corner I am sure there are a lot of parents out there looking for activities to keep their little people amused.
A great way to pass an afternoon is to decorate Easter eggs for an egg hunt. These eggs are great for tiny people as well as older kids who can be as arty as they like with their eggs. Decoratehard boiled eggs with stickers or paint or googly eyes to make ‘egg heads’, or try these decal eggs for a really bright and fun batch of Easter eggs, perfect for hunting.
What’s in the cupboard?
- Hard Boiled Eggs
- Food colouring
- White Vinegar
- Paper towel/kitchen roll
- Newspaper
- Various tiny stickers in different shapes, such stars or dots
What do we do?
- Use the newspaper to cover the table or work surface.
- Put the cooling rack on the newspaper to one side.
- Place 1 Tbsp of white vinegar into a mug and top up to ¾ full with water. Repeat this according to the number of colours you are using.
- Add several drops of a nice bright food coloring to each mug.
- Use kitchen roll to ensure that your egg is completely dry but be gentle so that the shell doesn’t crack!
- Decorate the egg with tiny stickers, making sure that the edges of the stickers are stuck down firmly.
- Put the egg into the dye. The longer you leave it in there then the brighter the colour will be.
- ry the egg on your cooling rack
- Once the egg is completely dry, carefully peel off the stickers to reveal the funky design.
- You can even dye the egg a second time with a lighter colour to fill in the gaps!
Now that you have a whole clutch of beautiful bright easter eggs, you can set them around the garden and house for an egg hunt.
