Becoming a mother is a wonderful, magical, terrifying, knackering thing! The first few years seem to fly by in a whirl of anxiety, laughter, joy and worry.  They are also dedicated almost entirely to the new little person in your life. Taking time for yourself seems unthinkable and impossible!  But here is the rub. You want to be the very best mum on the block. You want to be ableto offer your child tons of energy and attention. You can’t do that unless you have made time for yourself.  I’ve said it before and I will say it again!  Look after  yourself! It will make looking after your children 100% easier. Trust me.
It seems impossible but taking some time out for a few me time moments in the day will help you to relax, unwind, and get your breath back after running around after your precious bundle of joy for hours. Make time in your daily routine to stop and take care of you for a change.
Time may seem to be at a premium but it is vital that you take some time to work out exactly what you want from your ‘me time’.  Some mums want to relax in a hot bath with a book.  Others want to go for a run or for a swim.  My personal ‘me time’ pleasure is surfing the web and most recently playing bingo.  I don’t have a blue rinse and I am not sitting here in my dressing gown! People get the wrong image of bingo as a way to de-stress.  It’s fun and I can play online without having to worry about finding and paying a babysitter.  Many bingo sites have instant messaging services too so I can speak to the other people I am playing with even if they are at the other end of the country! The other joy is that while some sites require a subscription to play, many offer free games so I don’t find myself gambling away the children’s lunch money!  I’ve built my daily bingo game into my routine now so that it is almost as important as getting the kids fed or making sure their uniform is ready for school tomorrow.  I am regimented about it because it is a small guiltless pleasure that is mine and mine alone.
