Birthday Bounciness

Well yesterday was Witchling 10’s birthday. She is now Witchling 11!
She woke up at 6.30am and was a crazy bouncy ball of nutty birthday madness until 9.30pm.
The only thing that threatened to spoil her lovely day was the absence of her friends. Invitations were written and sent in plenty of time and her 3 selected buddies confirmed that they would meet us at the swimming baths at 2.30pm for fun on the slides and floats, then tea at Pizza Hut. Not one of them showed up. We had no phonecall to let us know, and the poor little mite was left with a quivering lip at the entrance to the pool. She did eventually go into the water with her sister and Witchling12’s friend (who had actually turned up!) but it was heart wrenching to watch her trying to keep her brave face on.
Desperate measures were required so I turned to my trusty phone and, with a certain amount of tact and dipomacy, was able to rustle up some understudies. Both girls are our neighbours and get on very well with her. They are a little older than she is but their suprise arrival at Pizza Hut went down almost as well as the birthday cake!
Full marks for being a super mum if I do say so myself!
