The government is blaming parents for everything at the moment, I recently saw an article about how everything was ok in the 1950’s but now bad parenting has caused an increase in crime, anti social behaviour, they are even blaming parents for the credit crunch; either spending money on credit cards to buy things for their kids or not teaching their kids the value of money.

I feel as though parents are being made a scapegoat for society’s problems, do they really think the answer to all problems is not to breed?

I’ll admit parenting is hard and since the drugs generation there has been a back lash of anti social behaviour being passed down from people who know no better to their children. Instead of criticising parents the government should be helping them as this particular problem will just repeat itself through the generations.

I think it is very unfair that all parents are put into the same category, not everyone claims benefits and takes drugs. Some parents try hard but don’t have the help and support to get it right, to pay the mortgage my partner and I both have to work, and after food and bills there isn’t a lot of money left over for good childcare and there is no way I could give up work to look after a child unless my partner got a significant pay rise.

Christina Aguilera has reportedly been asking Nicole Ritchie for parenting advice, so if someone with all her money and support still struggles how can mere mortal mums be expected to have all the answers.

Parents should not be blamed for society’s downfalls they should be offered support and advice as to bringing up children.
