I wanted to share wth Paren Gossip readers something that Witchling 12 told me the other day.
We were strolling along towards school in our usual high speed scuttle that we seem to have to take up, regardless of how early I promise myself we will leave each morning. Witchling 10’s mouth can move even faster than we were going and there always seems to be something or other ready to spill out of it.
On the morning in question the topic was birthdays. This is one of her very favourite topics as it means parties and presents and cake. What’s not to love? What made this ramble more unusual than her ordinary ravings about ice skating parties and swimming parties and pink stretched limousines was that she was imagining that it were the queen’s birthday. Not only that, she was imagining that she was the queen. Let me set the scene for Her Majesty Queen Witchling the 10th’s birthday celebrations.
The royal personage will wake at around 8am. Not too early and not to late so the servants can have a little lie in.
There shall be no washing of the royal body on her birthday.
The Queen shall feast on Frosties and Toast and Pancakes with Ice Cream for breakfast.
Once dressed in her ‘funkiest’ clothes
After this her arms will be tired so the queen shall retire back to her palace where all of her presents will be waiting for her. Some of these will be dished out to poor children.
Exhausted from all of this excitement the queen will then go for her nap.
Refreshed, her majesty will have a wonderful birthday tea of baked beans on toast (no, really) and then pop off to bed.
It takes 5 minutes to walk from our front door to Witchling 10’s school gate. Needless to say, I didn’t actually get to say a single word all the way there that day. Still, now I know what to organise for the day when Witchling 10 becomes Witchling 11.
