Parenting from a father’s point of view

There are many forms of parenting, all of which can be suitable under certain circumstances. The role of the father however is now more prevalent than it ever used to be.
Recent research has shown that fathers make a huge difference to the development and future potential of a child. They bring things to the child’s life like emotional development, a role model, honesty, responsibility, sharing, and financial lessons.
Being a dad isn’t easy and many new expectant dads are terrified at the prospect of the new arrival.
Some things about being a good father are:
1) Children need consistency, so to try to spend as much time as possible with your children every day. If you don’t see them, try to phone them.
2) Treat your children with love and respect, if they know that you love them they will feel more contented and the relationship will be easier.
3) Children pick up a lot of their lessons in life from their parents so be a good role model.
4) School is a bit part of your child’s life so get as involved as much as possible. From taking them to school, to being interested when they bring home a picture that they have painted, showing you care is essential.
5) Involve your children in decisions about all the family’s life, sitting around the dinner table together and discussing family issues keeps your children feeling part of the family unit.
6) Be involved in your children’s out of school activities. Show them that having an active and varied assortment of friends and hobbies is really important for them.
7) Most importantly treat your children equally and fairly.
