Witchling 10 v The Bullies (Round 1)

Witchling 10 has lost her appetite and mysteriously feels poorly every morning just around getting ready for school time. She is not her usual vivacious, bubbly self at all.
Last night we had a long chat about why she is so unhappy. It all boils down to bullying. There are children in her new school who are teasing her, calling her names, copying her work, excluding her at lunchtime and playtimes, whispering about her and on one occasion one child actually hit her in the face.

Nobody has the right to bully any child (or adult for that matter) and my heart was torn in two as the tears rolled freely down her face as she described the horrid behaviour that these little monsters are getting away with. I explained to her that nobody ever has the right to hurt another person or make them feel yucky on purpose and she is no exception.
I asked her what her teacher had said about all this going on at school. After all, schools have a duty of care to stamp out bullying and ensure that every child feels safe and secure. She told me that she was too afraid of the mean kids to tell her Teacher. Several cuddles later and a good deal of tissue and she accepted that I cannot just go steaming into the school and accuse them of allowing my Witchling to be bullied if the teachers do not know anything is amiss.
Witchling 10 lifted her chin up this morning and went off to school to face the bullies down and tell her Teacher about what has been happening. I know how scared she was because I would be just as scared myself. But she also knows how proud I am of her.
Stay tuned to find out what happens next!
